gata brass band

– SPAIN–

Gata Brass Band is an explosive group that combines funk, jazz, and New Orleans music with Spanish music, influenced by rock, electronics, beatbox, and fusion music. The band, made up of wind and percussion instruments, incorporates beatbox and a powerful soul voice to create an original and creative sound.

Their concerts mix diverse elements, amazing light shows, and surprising stage performances that captivate the audience. The result is a powerful, energetic, and visual show that makes you want to dance, with a lot of interaction with the audience, making them part of the show from the very first moment.

"Paraíso," their first studio album, brings together eight original compositions that explore rhythms from New Orleans (second line) and black music (funk, disco, hip-hop...), as well as modern rhythms typical of electronic music (drum'n'bass) and rock influences. Through their lyrics, the band showcases the values that define them, based on the pursuit of justice, respect, and love for others and especially for our planet ("Bee Free" and "No Te Calles" ,featuring Merzenaria on vocals, are examples of this). The positivity that characterizes the band members in the face of life and adversity is also reflected in tracks like "Sin Mirar Atrás," "No Plan B (Flow On)," and "Utopía." And of course, they celebrate life and the joy of living with the track "Estamos Vivos."

Since their debut, Gata Brass Band has been performing non-stop in various venues and theaters across Spain and Europe. They have participated in international jazz festivals such as the Copenhagen Jazz Festival and Riverboat Jazz Festival (Denmark), and in festivals in Castellón, Granada “Jazz en la Costa”, Almería “Almerijazz”, and the International Jazz Festival of Madrid. They have also played at Imagina Funk, the only black music festival in southern Europe, as well as several prominent street music and performing arts festivals: Haizetara Festival (Basque Country), the Mostra de Teatre i Música de Cercavila de Picanya (Valencia), and the International Performing Arts Fair of Palma del Río (Córdoba).

In 2024, they will continue presenting their album "Paraíso" at festivals such as the Dixieland Festival in Tarragona, the Femuka Festival in Segovia, and Ventolera Festival and Monchique Festival in Portugal. They will also be part of the main program for the San Isidro festivities in Madrid.

Gata Brass Band brings together several generations of highly skilled musicians from the Almería jazz scene, with extensive experience in a multitude of diverse professional musical projects.
